Last week, a team from Kaimera and our partners at Yahoo joined forces in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney (RMHC Sydney)—an organisation that offers crucial support to families with seriously ill or injured children.
Together, we spent an evening preparing and serving dinner for the families currently staying at the House. These are families who are navigating unimaginable challenges while their children undergo treatment in hospital—often far from home, routines, and support networks.
What struck me most was how something as simple as a home-cooked meal could offer a moment of comfort during such an uncertain time. In our day-to-day lives working in media, we’re lucky to be part of an industry full of exciting launches, events, and opportunities. But this experience stood out. It felt deeply grounding and genuinely meaningful to channel that energy into something with such a tangible, human impact.
There’s a unique kind of connection that happens when you step into the kitchen with a shared purpose. Between peeling vegetables and cooking rice (a lot of it!), there was laughter, teamwork, and quiet reflection. And when we finally saw the smiles and gratitude from the families we were there to support—it was a powerful reminder of what really matters.
Moments like these remind us of the importance of compassion and community. They show us that giving back doesn’t always have to be grand to be significant. Sometimes, it’s the everyday gestures—like preparing dinner—that leave a lasting impression.
As an industry, we have incredible reach, influence, and access. Whether it’s through our partnerships, networks, or the events we create, we can use our resources and relationships to give back in meaningful ways. Let’s find more ways to show up, get involved, and use the platforms we have to support the communities around us.
A heartfelt thank you to RMHC Sydney for the incredible work you do every day, and for welcoming us so warmly. And thank you to Yahoo for partnering with us on this beautiful initiative. It was an evening not to forget!
