Job Description
The Australian Financial Review is seeking a Wealth Reporter with a focus on investing in financial markets and property.
This position is open to applicants based in Sydney or Melbourne.
Day to day you will:
- Explore and explain trends and developments in investing
- Relay and explain those developments to our discerning audience via lively and informative stories furnished with expert commentary, data and case studies
- Use data sets, analysts reports and personal contacts to generate story ideas and find compelling ways to tell those stories
- Maintain a long list of off-diary story ideas and an equally long list of contacts within the financial advice, investment and shareholder communities
- Develop an unparalleled understanding of how Australians invest at each stage of their lives, and how we can better serve their needs
- Meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
Qualifications
What we would like to see:
- Experience as a working journalist in newsroom environment
- Proven ability to write news and features using data and case studies to bring stories to life
- Ability to adapt writing style to different formats and audiences
- Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with others
- Knowledge of financial markets, investment philosophy and wealth management
- Excellent organisational skills and willingness to take on new challenges
