About the role
Are Media’s Content & Creative Studio sits within the Commercial Product & Strategy team, working with some of the biggest magazine brands in the country including Gourmet Traveller, marie claire, Who, House & Garden, BELLE, The Australian Women’s Weekly, Country Style and Home Beautiful.
We are currently looking for a talented designer to join our Content & Creative team. You will be able to clearly articulate a vision from mock to executed design with endless ideas and innovative ways to approach content creation. Your attention to detail will be second to none and your creative vision will be rich and diverse. Reporting into a Creative Lead you will be a team player, working alongside other art directors and designers to bring trade and other commercial content to life.
Your primary focus will be our trade and corporate branding work and direction, helping to cement and promote our powerful connection with Australian women. When you’re not working on these briefs, you’ll be helping the creative team with other commercial work briefed into the studio.
You are very comfortable working on one project for weeks at a time but you don’t mind jumping in to help on another urgent shoot or project if required. You’re positive and enthusiastic, and eager to learn. Your work will come to life across print, video and social assets as well as visual stories, event collateral, decks and EDMs. You’ll have a keen eye for detail and innovative ways to amplify our message through beautiful design.

Duties
- Responsible for the delivery of design work in response to briefs from the Trade Marketing Manager and Studio Operations Manager.
- Brand custodian - Responsible for the management of the Are Media asset library, consistent roll-out of Are Media branding across executions
- Collaboration and ideation with your fellow team members and the Creative Director
- Directing photo shoots on occasion
- Briefing photographers and videographers and event managers for event design,
- Storyboarding capabilities/experience for videos and sizzle reels – sourcing references, creative treatment, ideas for animation and treatment
- Creating finished artwork from mock to print ready
Skills and experience
- Candidates will need design qualifications and demonstrated experience in a media, environment.
- A portfolio showing a range of high end premium work across categories like food, interiors, fashion, beauty and branding
- Outstanding InDesign and Photoshop abilities
- Outstanding visual referencing capabilities
- Motion graphics capabilities an added bonus
- Storyboarding capabilities/experience for videos – sourcing references, creative treatment, ideas for animation
