Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Design Manager to shape our design strategy, lead a high-performing team, and drive significant business impact for our Audience growth team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring a unified design strategy, vision, and roadmap for the design stream, focusing on long-term planning and aligning design efforts of our brand, retention and engagement teams with the strategic goals of the Audience Growth team and Publishing more broadly.
The ideal candidate will have extensive design and leadership experience, and a passion for aligning design with strategic business goals.
Day to day you will:
- Shape and drive the overarching design vision across multiple programs, aligning design direction with executive-level business strategy.
- Collaborate with senior leadership as the senior point of contact to define design priorities and resource allocation.
- Act as a strategic partner with Brand, Engagement, Editorial, and Product teams to seamlessly integrate creative work into broader marketing initiatives.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of comprehensive brand guidelines and design systems for marketing applications.
- Proactively manage multiple stakeholders and priorities using effective project management methodologies
- Own design budgets, resource allocation models, and ensure ROI on design investments.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
- Extensive experience in design in a leadership or management position.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing a strong understanding of design principles, user-centered design processes, and successful projects that demonstrate impact on user growth or engagement metrics.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and technology.
- Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing design teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Experience in managing multiple design projects simultaneously, from concept to execution, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining quality standards.
- Experience in managing budgets and adept at utilising resource allocation models.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align design efforts with business objectives and growth strategies.
- Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign at a minimum) and Figma on a Mac-based network.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, responsive, and adaptive design.
- Experience in social and mobile-first environments.
