Job Description

60 Minutes is Australia’s most-watched current affairs program. We tell big, visual, high-stakes stories and are looking to hire a Senior Camera Operator to help maintain our world-class standards.

Reporting to the Executive Producer, you’ll join an elite field team capturing cinematic imagery in fast-moving, unpredictable environments. You will collaborate with the country’s best journalists to produce high-impact stories that are seen, talked about, and remembered.

From world-leader interviews to remote international assignments, you’ll have the resources of a major newsroom with the creative agility of a small team. We need more than just a camera operator; we need a visual storyteller who brings a sharp editorial mindset to every frame.

Day to day, you will: 

  • Deliver cinematic cinematography for 60 Minutes and digital long-form projects.
  • Master-light interviews to a high, consistent, and sophisticated standard.
  • Capture evocative B-roll that drives the narrative and provides creative edit options.
  • Operate efficiently and safely on location, including remote and hostile environments.
  • Collaborate on visual style with reporters, producers, and editors.
  • Manage and maintain high-end camera and lighting equipment.

Qualifications

What you'll bring: 

  • Extensive experience in high-end news, current affairs, or documentary.
  • An expert eye for composition, movement, and lighting.
  • Technical mastery of Sony/Canon ENG and cine-style systems.
  • Resilience to deliver world-class work under tight deadlines.
  • Full flexibility to travel at short notice, including weekends.
  • A professional presence when managing high-profile subjects and small crews.
  • A storyteller’s instinct aligned with the 60 Minutes brand.
  • Accreditations: Drone, gimbal/slider proficiency, and digital/social experience.
