Job Description
We are looking for a curious and passionate Researcher to join our award-winning Long Format Unit, working across 60 Minutes and a range of premium projects, including Stan Original Documentaries. This is a run-of-show contract, aligned to production timelines (approximately 44 weeks).
With proven experience & strong attention to detail, a love for investigation, and the energy to dig into compelling stories. Youโll help verify facts, find sources, and contribute to content across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms.
We're after someone whoโs digitally fluent, adaptable, and excited to work across formats, from hard-hitting journalism to premium documentaries.

Day to day you will:
- Conduct in-depth research on a wide range of topics to support documentary development and production.
- Identify and source relevant experts, interviewees, and archival materials.
- Verify facts, cross-check information, and ensure the accuracy of all research.
- Assist in writing research briefs, proposals, and treatments.
- Work closely with producers, writers, and directors to develop compelling narratives.
- Stay up-to-date with current events, emerging stories, and academic research relevant to our documentary subjects.
- Secure permissions and clearances for archival footage, images, and copyrighted materials.
- Write short-form digital content for broadcast.
Qualifications
What youโll bring:
- A passion for documentaries, current affairs, and telling impactful stories
- Research, writing, and organisational skills, with great attention to detail
- A relevant degree in journalism, media, communications, or similar
- Comfortable working under deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
- Digitally savvy, with confidence using online tools and platforms to find and develop content
- A curious, proactive mindset and eagerness to learn
- An interest in archive research or understanding legal considerations (like rights and clearances) is a bonus
