Research Assistant (AI-Enhanced Media Art (EQUA Project))

Job Description

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at NTU invites applications for a Part-Time Research Assistant to support the MOE Tier 1 research project EQUA: Emergent Quantum Aesthetics through AI-Enhanced Media. Led by A/P Ina Conradi Chavez, EQUA develops AI-powered immersive artworks that transform how audiences engage with complex scientific ideas — translating quantum theory into large-scale aesthetic experiences presented at major international venues including Ars Electronica, MEET Milan, and urban media screens across Asia and Europe. This is a hands-on creative-technical role for a self-driven individual who is passionate about generative AI, real-time media, and the intersection of art and science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build scalable generative AI pipelines using ComfyUI, RunwayML, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and multi-modal AI ecosystems for immersive art production
  • Build and operate real-time generative media environments in TouchDesigner for large-scale immersive installations and public screen deployments
  • Own end-to-end studio production sessions from prototyping through exhibition-ready output; assist with grant documentation and milestone reporting
  • Create and edit digital content for the project's online presence and exhibition submissions
  • Support studio production sessions, audience data collection, and curatorial documentation

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Media Art, Digital Arts, Interactive Media, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in ComfyUI (essential) and TouchDesigner (essential); hands-on experience with real-time and generative media systems
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-modal generative AI tools (Stable Diffusion, RunwayML, Midjourney, Luma AI, or similar) applied in production workflows
  • Ability to work independently as a hands-on builder; strong interest in AI, immersive media art, and science communication
  • Portfolio of generative or AI-driven creative works required
