About the role

Reporting to the Editor, the Omnichannel Managing Editor of Better Homes and Gardens will work to achieve the best overall editorial and production outcomes for the brand.

Supporting the Editor of Better Homes and Gardens with the day-to-day running of the brand, this role will be a key driver of the holistic implementation of omnichannel processes and ideas. This includes ideating and executing cross-channel strategy, sourcing content and brand partners, writing, editing and image sourcing, overseeing an extensive contractor database of regular commissions and delivery of quality projects across categories of craft, decorating, DIY, gardening, and more. Plus, liaising with BHGTV to align on information sharing and generate supporting projects for TV segments.

The Omnichannel Managing Editor is an integral role that will manage production flow, create original omnichannel content, and liaise with key partners.

Duties

  • Manage production workflow of magazine, while prioritising and supporting digital and social executions.
  • Leadership and management of direct reports as well as external contributors such as writers, photographers, and stylists.
  • Writing and editing across the BHG categories, adhering to and championing the direction of BHG brand guidelines.
  • Ideation, creation and management of commercial partnerships and sponsored content.
  • Collaboration with creative team to ensure best practice and innovation across all digital and print channels.
  • Attend events on behalf of BHG, representing the brand and driving commercial objectives.

Skills and experience

  • Required 5+ years experience writing and editing in one of more of the areas of: interior decorating and styling, DIY, craft, food, gardening, travel, pets, beauty, health and wellbeing/lifestyle.
  • Experience writing for both print and digital (social experience advantageous).
  • Excellent communication and grammar skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with experience in workload prioritisation.
  • Ability to work in and enhance a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in building new relationships and contacts and dealing effectively and efficiently with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to balance commercial and editorial requirements.
