About the role:

Are you passionate about radio and experienced in delivering compelling news to diverse audiences? We're seeking a dedicated Journalist/ Newsreader to join our news team based in Brisbane. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in our HIT and Triple M radio shows, delivering up-to-the-minute local news both on air and online for the Mackay, Whitsunday and Central Queensland regions, on a rotating basis. On alternate weeks you’ll chase compelling news stories for use across Queensland. Newsreading shifts begin at 4am so you’ll be happy with an early start!

Please note: This role will be required to cover sensitive and potentially emotionally challenging news events from a people, product, and rostering perspective.

Experience we’re looking for:

  • A degree qualification in Journalism, Communications or Media is required.
  • Minimum two years broadcast journalist experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing and producing original news stories.
  • An ability to convey news information by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and the nature of the information.
  • Experience in delivering news on air or creating audio for an on demand/podcast environment is desirable, otherwise, a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in writing and presenting news for radio under stringent deadlines, or an eagerness to learn.
  • A working knowledge of chasing story contacts, best practice interview techniques, & audio editing is desirable
  • A team player who’s happy to collaborate and chase stories for others.
