Department Overview

Life & Booking HRBP Section works closely with executive leadership to tackle a wide range of organizational challenges, all in support of business growth across the following services: Rakuten Travel, Rakuten GORA, Rakuten Car, Rakuten DREAM, Rakuten Regional Revitalization, and Rakuten BEAUTY.

Position: Why We Hire

Life & Booking HRBP Section handles a broad range of HR functions as a business-facing HR team, including recruitment, talent management, learning & development, compensation, and labor management. The team also continuously conducts Employee Engagement Surveys, using the results to identify organizational challenges and drive proactive improvement initiatives. In order to support further business expansion, we are increasing headcount to strengthen the team. To further drive business growth, we plan and execute a wide range of HR initiatives, working as One Team with both business and corporate organizations to achieve the mission of the business. Beyond simply executing established processes, we are expected to drive operational improvements from multiple perspectives - proactively planning and implementing improvement initiatives that contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Position Details

Position A (L&B HR Planning Group) - Partner with business divisions to design and execute HR initiatives that address high-priority and high-urgency challenges at both the management and operational levels - Deliver HR programs aligned with the direction set by HR headquarters, and collaborate with divisional HR and general affairs teams - Collect and analyze HR data - Identify issues and develop corresponding action plans - Define, manage, and execute KGIs and KPIs within the HR strategy.

Position B (L&B HRBP Group) This role primarily supports the domestic operations of the Travel & Mobility business. - Performance management (design and operation of performance evaluation and compensation frameworks) - Labor management (employee consultations, workforce data management including working hours and health checkups, occupational physician coordination, leave of absence, and return-to-work support) - Employment contracts and policy management (contract renewals, employment type changes, development and communication of HR guidelines) - Group company HR operations (payroll, social insurance, onboarding/offboarding, performance management, and general HR tasks) - Planning and execution of various HR initiatives.

Team Background - Experience in administrative/management roles in wholesale or retail industries
Career Path Examples - Starting as an individual contributor and advancing to a management role - Cross-functional career development across HR specializations (labor management, performance evaluation, recruitment, etc.)

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Basic PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A positive, flexible, and agile approach to change
  • Strong problem-solving skills based on effective communication with both executive leadership and frontline teams
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues, related departments, and employees with a hospitality mindset
  • Self-driven with the ability to independently identify issues, organize information, and propose and implement solutions

Desired Qualifications:

  • HR experience at a business company or HR consulting experience (minimum 2 years of practical experience in either)
  • Experience using HR systems or databases; HR-related certifications (e.g., Shakai Hoken Roshi-shi, HRBP certification, etc.)
  • Experience in data-driven problem solving
  • Experience managing and driving cross-team or cross-departmental projects
  • Experience managing multiple team members
