Summary of the Role
The role will focus on HR Communications and Corporate Communications. Its purpose is to strengthen the Terumo brand and protect its reputation as a trusted company in the Asia Pacific region and globally, while playing a key role in the company’s ongoing transformation. The role will be responsible for developing communication strategies and programs to:
- Continuously build and enhance employee engagement and organizational purpose across the Asia Pacific region.
- Continuously strengthen leadership messaging and communications from TAPHQ to regional entities.
- Continuously build and reinforce the Terumo brand among both internal and external stakeholders.
From a people and culture perspective, the role is expected to consistently challenge the status quo, think differently to improve engagement, and contribute to building a high-performing organization.
Key Functions / Responsibilities
- Internal Communications
Lead communication and outreach initiatives, working closely with TAP Executive Leadership, the TC Internal Communications team, and stakeholders across the organization. Improve TAP HQ messaging and communication engagement with all entity associates. Strengthen TAP HQ positioning, messaging, and communication engagement with TC Global Executive Leadership. Design and develop an internal communications strategy aligned with regional business priorities and objectives. Develop communication plans and outreach activities that integrate business and functional strategies into employee communications. Provide communications support for executive communications, media relations, corporate initiatives, and engagement campaigns. Develop communication plans that integrate Terumo Core Values and mission, translating them into employee-focused activities and initiatives. - Employer Branding
Design, develop, and implement initiatives that support organizational purpose and drive employee engagement, including Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and employee engagement strategies. Strategically position Terumo externally as an employer of choice through strong and consistent messaging. Oversee the development, content, and publication of TAP communication materials, including newsletters, podcasts, town halls, video scripts, speeches, and collateral. - Employee Engagement Champion
Design and implement regular engagement and branding activities to enhance employees’ sense of belonging. Partner with the Employee Engagement Committee to position Terumo as a Great Place to Work. Support engagement initiatives such as Patient’s Day, Family Day, CSR activities, and related communications. Serve as the champion for APAC DE&I initiatives. - Strategic and Corporate Branding
Design and roll out regional branding strategies and monitor local implementation across countries in alignment with TC Group Brand Policy and Visual Identity (VI) Guidelines. Plan and promote Group Brand Identity elements, including Group Mission, Core Values, and the Group Code of Conduct. - Social Media Governance and Management
Promote compliant use of regional social media accounts in alignment with TC social media policies. Design and implement engaging social media content in collaboration with entities and businesses to build a strong and positive Terumo digital presence. - Media Relations Management
Develop and manage media campaigns for major APAC events. In consultation with TC Corporate Communications teams, identify media opportunities and lead media activities across APAC. - Other Responsibilities
Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager.
Functional / Technical Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and creatively
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Proficient in design tools such as Canva or similar platforms
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Human Resources, or a related field
- Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant work experience
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful internal communications strategies
- Experience with content management systems (CMS), email marketing tools, and social media platforms
- Familiarity with APAC cultures, customs, and languages (desirable)
