About the role

The Data Engineer role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously growing our modern cloud-based data platform to strategically address business needs. Working within the Data team and reporting to the Head of Data, you will continually be challenged with the intricacies of data governance, data quality and data integration.
  
A strong focus on strategic outcomes, meeting key milestones as well as delivering data-based solutions as promised and providing support utilising the latest standards in technology, methodology, and processes will be key to our success.

Duties

  • Develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders to enable the successful delivery of data-based solutions.
  • Ensure the quick turnaround of critical support issues within production environments.
  • Assess requirements for completeness and clarify where required.
  • Contribute to team estimation of development work so that business stakeholders can make informed decisions.
  • Design, develop and implement enhancements to data warehouse.
  • Design, develop and implement real time and batch scalable data pipelines from various sources in SQL and Python.
  • Automate the build deployment of data pipelines using CI/CD best practices.
  • Develop reusable frameworks for solving common data integration needs.
  • Ensure data compliance and data security needs are met in the design of a solution.

Skills and experience

  • 2+ years of experience in cloud-based data solution development, data integration, data warehousing.
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS services such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, AWS IAM, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda.
  • Hands on technical experience in programming with SQL and Python.
  • Practical experience in automation best practices through the implementation of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong experience in data modelling, schema design and optimisation.
  • Ability to prepare technical and support documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
