Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join our team on a 5-month paternity leave contract. The Commercial Analyst role sits within a small group of specialist analysts within the Commerce team who work across all of Nine’s Platforms to provide unified reporting and commercial insights to a range of stakeholders.

The Commerce team is the operational support team within the Nine Advertising Sales division.

Commerce provides Sales team support through working with Sales leadership to define business goals, providing insights and data-led strategies.

Role responsibilities

  • Delivery of yield, inventory and revenue reporting and insights to monitor commercial product performance
  • Work with Nine’s internal technology teams and other stakeholders to mine and query a range of large datasets
  • Data driven evaluation of business growth opportunities
  • Delivery of commercial modelling and business cases
  • Delivery of recommendations to support strategic commercial decision-making
  • Own delivery of inventory forecasting models for a range of Nine’s assets, with purpose to support revenue outcomes
  • Bring creative problem solving to ongoing business issues
  • Work with pricing, yield and inventory teams to develop revenue strategy, supported by deep audience and inventory insights
  • Work with programming and product teams to model audience growth and impact on inventory opportunity
  • Enact responsibility as a key internal stakeholder with revenue outcomes and sales team/client experience top of mind
  • Analyse market trends and competitor landscape to identify growth opportunities
  • Provide recommendations into the operational design of new products covering how inventory and avails will be forecasted, sales processes, delivery workflows and product performance reporting
  • Maintain a range of existing system processes & inventory tools
  • Ad hoc analysis as required

Qualifications

  • Essential qualifications, experience & skills
  • Minimum three years experience with a proven analytical background
  • Experience working with managing, merging and querying large datasets (BigQuery preferred)
  • High level knowledge of SQL and Python query languages and MS Excel/ Google Sheets
  • Structured thinker and creative problem solver
  • Highly numerate with the ability to analyse information and produce data-driven recommendations for important business decisions
  • Strong attention to detail and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent commercial acumen and experience operating as a trusted Commercial Advisor
  • BI reporting tools – Tableau and Looker preferred
  • BI reporting tools – Tableau and Looker preferred
