The Global Engagement and Communications Office is seeking a dedicated and self-driven professional to join the PR and Media Team as an Assistant Manager. The role focuses on promoting the image of HKUST and highlighting the achievements of its faculty, students and alumni through various media channels. It involves utilizing both textual and visual communication methods, as the landscape of communication has evolved significantly in today’s fast-changing world. Reporting to the Assistant Director (PR & Media), the appointee will work collaboratively with teammates to provide professional and logistical support to the team.

Responsibilities include planning and executing publicity strategies; preparing press collaterals; organizing media events and interviews; liaising with internal and external parties for various projects; handling media inquiries; monitoring media and social media sentiment; and undertaking any other duties assigned by supervisors. Additionally, the appointee will identify media angles for research findings and create engaging stories from complex concepts.

Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and have at least 7 years of relevant experience in journalism, public relations, or corporate communications. A strong command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) is essential for this role. Candidates are expected to have good media sense and superb interpersonal skills, while a solid understanding of multimedia, along with experience in multimedia communication, will be advantageous. Experience working with both international and China media is preferred. Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office is also required. The ideal candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, resourceful and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to work outside normal office hours.
