About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team based in Melbourne or Gold Coast. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this role provides essential support in daily accounting tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of our financial reporting & compliance requirements. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Assist with the delivery of month end accounting and reporting, including detailed review for accuracy and completeness
• Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations, including liaison with other parts of the business for investigation and resolution of issues
• Day to day accounting duties including journal entries and maintenance of accruals, provisions and prepayments
• Lease property management and associated accounting entries
• Various tasks within the Financial Accounting Team, including accounting and administration for contra agreements
• Support the development of efficient and accurate sustainability reporting, including collation and analysis of emissions data
• Collaborate with Commercial Finance team to deliver yearly budgets
• Preparation of data and schedules to support external audits and the preparation of statutory financial statements
• Preparation, analysis and assistance with various tax and compliance reporting obligations, which may include FBT, income tax, GST, WHT, payroll tax, and payment times reporting
• Maintenance of support and process documentation, ensuring highly organised systems of filing
• Participate in ad hoc projects and systems testing
• Any other duties as required to assist in the accomplishment of team goals, including acting as a backup during periods of leave

Experience we’re looking for:

• Accounting degree qualified, or studying towards an accounting or similar degree
• 2+ years of experience in a similar role / environment
• Intermediate Excel, MS Office and ERP system skills (SAP experience highly desirable, but not essential)
• Experience in financial accounting and preparation / review of general ledger accounts and trial balance
• Familiarity with Australian tax compliance requirements including income tax, FBT and GST 
• Ability to add value and assist in the development of enhanced processes
• High levels of accountability, attention to detail, and resourcefullness
• Excellent stakeholder management
• Exposure to media industry highly regarded
