We understand that continuous improvement is crucial in promoting diversity & inclusion (D&I) at SCA. We recently partnered with expert external consultants, who conducted a review of SCA’s current D&I efforts to identify areas of strength and opportunity to help us develop a 3-year D&I Horizon Strategy.
The objective of the strategy is to support our efforts in continuing to build a diverse and inclusive workplace for our employees, and to reflect the diversity of Australia’s community in our consideration of programming and content.
Watch the video to hear our CEO, John Kelly, speak about our D&I journey and our ongoing commitment.

Always Curious is one of our core values at SCA. Creativity is in our DNA, and we are proud that our people can innovate and create engaging content daily that entertains millions across Australia. From our Radio Announcers, Producers, Social Media Specialists to our Account Managers, we are pushing boundaries to capture our audiences and provide our clients with cutting edge advertisement solutions.
In addition to our content creation, we foster innovation across the entire organisation. SCA promotes creative thinking and innovation to consistently improve our content and our digital products. We strive to create an environment where our people feel valued, heard, and empowered to embrace their creativity. We achieve this through several initiatives including:
- Innovation Steer Group: strategic initiative group to classify innovative ideas into themes and levels (ensuring SCA’s innovation is strategic and directed).
- Skunkworks Projects: funded innovation projects that undergo real-world testing and rollouts, these projects provide tangible results and insights.
- Team Platforms: Brown Bags and Engineering Forums are used to discuss innovative ideas, share knowledge, and collaborate while Academies and Hackathons are platforms for intensive learning and rapid idea prototyping.

Charitable Initiatives
We recognise our unique opportunity to engage with charities beyond monetary donations. In 2016, we launched our national charity program, SCA Embrace, which works with selected national charities over two-year cycles to help their work while engaging our own people to build stronger communities. In January 2024, we commenced our two-year partnership with Endometriosis Australia and Cancer Council. Read more here.
The purpose of the Embrace program is to make a substantial difference to our Embrace Partners to grow and amplify their message throughout this period. We support the two charities through community service announcements and content opportunities on SCA’s radio, television, and digital networks.
Recruitment
We are committed to advancing equal employment opportunities for our staff and to diversify and develop our workforce. Furthermore, we aim to recognise the value of attracting and retaining employees with different backgrounds, experience, knowledge, and abilities. We also aim to ensure diversity contributes to our business success and benefits individuals, teams, clients, and the community.

Sustainability
SCA is committed to playing our part to address climate change and commits to addressing this in three ways:
- We will understand the impacts, risks, and opportunities that climate change poses for our business.
- We will develop strategies to reduce our net carbon emissions over time.
- We will use our platforms to support our audiences, clients, suppliers, and communities to make sustainable changes, reducing their net carbon emissions.
SCA has worked with external consultants to complete a GHG emissions inventory for SCA as a business and now has a model for recording and measuring our GHG emissions for FY23 and future years. We conducted workshops to identify a long list of opportunities and then ranked opportunities according to their achievability and alignment with our strategic goals. We then created a short list of opportunities that are financially viable, technically mature, aligned with SCA’s strategy, and will result in material reductions in emissions and will continue to explore these opportunities.
