The Role
We are seeking an experienced journalist to use a range contacts, sources and investigative techniques to report, produce and present distinctive and original content across all ABC News platforms that hold the powerful to account.
The Job
Working collaboratively to share experience and knowledge across the Tasmanian News team, with limited direction you will:
- Generate exclusive stories utilising a wide network of contacts, trusted sources, research and data techniques.
- Write concise and accurate copy using creative storytelling techniques.
- Demonstrate advanced media production and presentation skills.
- Keep current with production methods, software and online reporting tools.
- Work with the Tasmania News Editor and newsroom leadership team to commission reporters and field operators to provide coverage of distinctive content for all state and network programs and platforms.

About You
You have proven experience as an investigative reporter in a broadcast or digital environment, with a list of sources and contacts to match. You will use your sophisticated communication skills and persuasive personality to break exclusive stories that have statewide or national impact and hold all levels of government, organisations and individuals to account.
You'll have:
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in journalism.
- Proven investigative reporting skills and ability to cover complex issues.
- Excellent writing and storytelling abilities across digital and social platforms.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with effective stakeholder management.
- Ability to source and maintain a broad network of contacts across Australia.
