What you'll do
As a Site Reliability Engineer at Cartology, your focus will be on supporting our Software Development teams and the applications they build and run. This role will work closely with Senior members of the team to ensure our applications are secure, reliable and scalable, whilst also ensuring we have an excellent developer experience with supporting tools and automations.
- Reliability and Scalability: Drive cloud application reliability and scalability through proactive capacity planning, performance optimization, and close collaboration with development teams.
- SRE Best Practices: Foster a strong SRE culture by championing and implementing key principles and practices, including SLO definition, error budgeting, and blameless postmortems.
- Monitoring and Logging: Develop and maintain comprehensive logging and monitoring solutions for cloud applications ensuring optimal performance and high availability.
- Infrastructure Automation: Assist in automating infrastructure processes across cloud services enhancing efficiency and minimizing manual tasks.
- Architecture Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to design and refine the architecture of applications and services, ensuring they are performant, secure, and scalable.
- DevOps Practices: Implement DevOps methodologies to improve deployment pipelines and developer tooling, facilitating seamless integration and efficient operations across all environments.
- Security and Compliance: Contribute to security initiatives across both cloud and digital platforms, ensuring adherence to organizational and industry standards.
What will I bring
- Experience and proficiency in working with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS and/or Azure)
- Strong software engineering background with coding skills in one or more programming languages like Java, Go, Ruby, Typescript or Node.js
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, including tools like Github Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
- Knowledge and experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. Understanding of containerization principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in implementing monitoring and observability solutions, including tools like Slack/SignalFx, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar technologies.
- Skills in automating infrastructure and deploying resources using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK.
