Reporter, News (Rural), Port Macquarie

About the Role

Bring your creativity and your ability to find and tell great stories and join the team at Port Macquarie as a new reporter with a rural focus.

Under direction of the Editor, and in collaboration with colleagues your will be involved in;

• Creating content with a rural focus, for multiple platforms to engage local and national audiences. 
• Producing and presenting rural content, Q&A’s, interviews and packages across all platforms, including breaking stories.
• Contribute to planning and commissioning processes to develop and distribute new content ideas to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences. 
• In collaboration with colleagues, identify and develop local content that can be shared with other content teams in Regional & Local and across the ABC on multiple platforms.  

About You

Are you passionate about rural issues and have proficient editorial skills? Do you have a passion to source and tell authentic stories that will engage our diverse audience? This exciting opportunity will allow you to get out and about to find and tell stories with a rural flavour.

Your skills and experience will include:

• Demonstrated experience in delivering breaking and original content for multiple platforms
• Strong understanding of the issues that affect and interest the local audience. 
• Good time management and communication skills.

A current driver's license is essential.
