  • The Job

    ABC Western Queensland is looking for a passionate and experienced journalist to join the team. You'll play a crucial role in creating unique and compelling content about south west Queensland. We want you to deliver digital articles, audio content for radio and online, and video stories for news bulletins and online.

    Due to the remote location of Charleville, there is flexibility for this role to work from home within the western Queensland area. You’ll focus on stories across the south west including Charleville, Thargomindah, Quilpie, Cunnamulla and beyond.

    In this role you will:

    • Create accurate and concise digital news content across multiple platforms (written, audio and video).
    • Deliver creative and original stories with impact, to achieve strong reach and engagement with local and national audiences.
    • Contribute to planning and commissioning processes to develop and distribute new content ideas to achieve strong reach and engagement with audiences.
    • Collaborate with team members to produce comprehensive news coverage.
    • Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan.

    About You

    You're an experienced journalist with a strong focus on digital and multi-platform storytelling. You will be prepared to work remotely when required.

    You will be able to demonstrate:

    • A creative approach to content construction and delivery, and accomplished experience in live presentation and broadcast.
    • You will have demonstrated skills in writing for online, TV and radio as well as experience as a video journalist, filming your own stories.
    • Accomplished editorial skills including the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement.
    • Strong understanding of the issues that affect and interest the local audience.
