  • Contract for approximately 12 months
  • Base salary $100K - $123K plus allowances

The Role

7.30 is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and experienced journalist to join the team to liaise closely with the Political Editor, 7.30 and Executive Producer to produce political packages out of Canberra.

You will identify strong original stories for our program and be responsible for guiding them from initial stages to final delivery - finding ways to tell them in contemporary and visually original ways.

The Job

Reporting to the 7.30 Executive Producer, you will:

  • Produce excellent current affairs stories covering wide range of subjects
  • Assist in the production of same-day stories, researching talent, conducting interviews, selecting grabs, suggesting and shooting
  • sequences
  • Work collaboratively with your colleagues and actively contribute in the team production of long-term projects
  • Maintain an understanding of current events and issues, monitoring a range of media outlets/sources
  • Develop a network of contacts and sources

About You

The successful applicant will have current affairs television producing experience and a keen eye for strong and original content. You will also bring:

  • Highly advanced experience researching, producing or reporting for television current affairs and a strong understanding of TV production values is essential
  • Significant understanding of contemporary television production techniques for long form stories.
  • High level ability to develop and maintain excellent political and other contacts, with an understanding of federal politics, political contacts and political reporting experience.
  • Highly advanced communication skills and the ability to act calmly and decisively under pressure.
