The Role

The Learning Exchange Content Writer produces engaging, practical content for The Learning Exchange, a bilingual blog supporting higher education professionals across Southeast Asia. This blog is part of RMIT Vietnam's broader commitment to advancing the higher education sector in the region. Working as part of the Learning Futures team, you'll interview educators, write and edit blog posts, manage contributor relationships, and coordinate with translators to maintain a consistent publishing schedule. This role is ideal for a professional who can write clearly, ask good questions, and keep multiple projects moving forward while supporting RMIT's mission to lead innovation in teaching and learning across the region.

Your Responsibilities

  • Interview RMIT educators and external higher education professionals to develop blog posts, case studies, and feature articles that showcase innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Write original blog content across four strategic pillars: Learning Futures (emerging technology), Learning Design, Learning & Teaching, and Educator Voice.
  • Edit and polish contributed content from academics and practitioners for clarity, accessibility, and alignment with blog voice and standards.
  • Research and fact-check content to ensure accuracy, particularly when covering emerging technologies, pedagogical approaches, and institutional initiatives.
  • Coordinate content pipeline from multiple internal and external contributors, tracking submissions, following up to meet publishing deadlines, and maintaining relationships with regular contributors.
  • Manage bilingual publishing workflow in coordination with translator, ensuring timely handoffs and maintaining content calendar with buffer of ready-to-publish posts.
  • Upload and schedule content to WordPress, cross-post to relevant social media channels, and apply SEO principles (headings, meta descriptions, keywords) to optimise discoverability.
  • Monitor and report on content performance metrics, readership trends, and engagement to inform content strategy.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Languages, or a related field is preferred.
  • Candidates with equivalent professional writing experience (e.g., 3 years in content writing or journalism) will also be considered.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional writing experience is preferred but not essential for strong graduates with relevant portfolios.
  • Open to recent graduates who can demonstrate excellent writing ability.
  • Excellent English and Vietnamese writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly for a professional audience.
  • Strong interviewing skills and ability to draw out stories from subject matter experts, particularly in academic and educational contexts.
  • Research and fact-checking capabilities with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Portfolio demonstrating writing range and ability (blog posts, articles, feature writing, or similar professional writing samples).
  • Basic WordPress or CMS experience (or demonstrated ability to learn quickly).
  • Understanding of or genuine interest in higher education, particularly in the Southeast Asian context. (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with Vietnamese higher education landscape and regional educational priorities. (Desirable)
  • Understanding of SEO principles and content marketing best practices. (Desirable)
  • Experience using AI tools to support research, drafting, and content development workflows. (Desirable)
  • Basic visual design skills (Canva, basic photo editing) to support content presentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and contributors simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills for working with academic contributors and external partners.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn about complex educational topics and emerging technologies.
  • Self-directed with ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with team.

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 6.0 (or equivalent CEST 160).
