    Media Watch is Australia’s leading source of media-industry analysis and commentary.

    This position involves researching original programs/segments for Media Watch's weekly program, and its online content.

    The Role

    This is a rare opportunity to join the Media Watch team as a journalist/researcher and leave your mark on Australia's media landscape.

    We’re looking for a sharp and enthusiastic journalist/researcher to join the Media Watch team for the next 10 months.

    You'll need a sharp eye for media misbehaviour and will be expected to spot media stories and investigate them.

    You'll also need to be able to write clearly, analyse stories and be committed to accuracy and fact checking.

    Financial and technology data skills helpful.

    You will:

    • Research and write engaging content to a high standard on a weekly basis for Media Watch. 
    • Compile and monitor media content across TV, radio, social and online.
    • Meet editorial deadlines and adhere to key editorial policies.
    • Be focused and accurate in your work.

    About You

    You will have sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills and highly developed research skills.

    You will also bring:

    • Strong research skills including knowledge of libraries, internet systems, social media, Freedom of Information, business and financial records, legal and parliamentary records.
    • Advanced skills in information management and social media techniques.
    • A passion for original journalism, with a thorough understanding of the workings and make up of Australia’s media industry.
