What you’ll do

As Head of CMI, you will be responsible for transforming the CMI function from an event-centric, project-management team into a strategic, commercial entity. The vision is to drive innovation, build new capabilities, and develop more creative brand solutions that leverage the full Woolworths Group ecosystem. By clarifying roles and responsibilities with the sales team, the CMI function will take the lead on event-related revenue and strategic delivery, freeing up the sales team to focus on proactive, advisory-led selling.

Key accountabilities of the Head of CMI position include:

  • Strategic & Commercial Leadership: Drive the transformation of the team from a project-management function into a commercially-focused powerhouse, leading the development and activation of strategic growth opportunities.
  • Event & Brand Innovation: Orchestrate a high-impact events calendar, owning the strategic delivery and commercial results for brands to drive significant repeat business and create innovative, market-leading solutions.
  • Senior Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the central bridge between sales, marketing, and commercial teams, masterfully influencing senior stakeholders and establishing clear processes to maximise opportunities across the business.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and inspire a team to build a best-in-class commercial function.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven FMCG Expertise: A strong track record in marketing, shopper, customer, or trade marketing gained within a fast-paced FMCG or retail environment.
  • Exceptional Commercial & Strategic Mindset: You possess outstanding commercial acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn complex challenges into clear, actionable growth plans.
  • Inspirational & Influential Leadership: A natural leader with demonstrated success in influencing senior management, solving problems creatively, and simplifying ambiguity for your team and stakeholders.
  • Advanced Business Acumen: A relevant Business Degree or MBA would be a significant advantage.
