About the opportunity:

The Brag Media is expanding our Team with the appointment of a Sydney-based Editor-In-Chief, for Rolling Stone AU/NZ.

This position will see you leading the award-winning quarterly RS magazine, managing staff and regularly contributing to the company’s suite of titles.

The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist and editor, a confident public speaker who can work across the myriad media platforms and present as the face of the business.

The role requires a hardworking writer, an enthusiast who is knowledgeable on contemporary music across the genres and eras, and has a knack for interpreting analytics.

The successful applicant will own a bulging contacts book and a background on writing about music and the industry that supports it.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should have “news” in their DNA, with the ability to identify trends before others, respond to news as it breaks, and spot themes which develop into copy.
  • Present original ideas which can be developed into feature-length articles or news stories.
  • A compelling writer, the role requires an experienced journalist who can generate “clean” copy on a daily basis.
  • A team player who will work from the company’s headquarters in Sydney and will liaise with the content and social team, reporting to the Head of Content. The candidate will also collaborate closely with the business’s commercial team and will be expected to manage staff.
  • The candidate will have a vision for the role, and enthusiasm for both music journalism, and business writing, and will be expected to contribute to The Brag Media’s various titles.
  • The new recruit should bring to the team a strong digital content and print strategy, and is a wiz at interpreting analytics.

About your skills and experience

  • Minimum 10 years as a senior writer/editor on a frontline title.
  • Ideally, the candidate will have experience working on both B2C and B2B brands, across digital and print.
  • Skilled with WordPress and social media, and will have a working knowledge of content analytics tools.
  • A strong public speaker who can represent Rolling Stone AU/NZ and The Brag Media on TV, radio, podcasts and in the wider press.
