Shape WA’s Daily News Online. We have an opportunity for a Digital Producer with strong news judgement and digital publishing experience to join our Perth based team. This role offers hands‑on experience contributing to daily coverage across thewest.com.au and PerthNow.
As a key member of our dynamic online newsroom, you will work closely with the Online Editor to steer content direction, respond to breaking news, and keep our audience informed with compelling, timely stories. This is a role for someone who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, has sharp news instincts, and delivers clean, engaging copy at speed. About the role:

  • Source, write, and publish original stories for the website.
  • Conduct professional and thorough interviews.
  • Utilise social media for both story discovery and promotion.
  • Produce engaging video content for digital platforms.
  • Apply sound news judgement and use analytical tools to maximise story visibility.
  • Write and edit content, including headlines, captions, and embedded media.
  • Support the Online Editor in guiding daily content direction.
  • Maintain awareness of legal and ethical issues in reporting.
  • Represent the company professionally and courteously in all interactions.
  • Continuously develop and stay up to date with technology and digital trends.
  • Partner collaboratively with cross‑functional teams across the organisation to create and deliver engaging content.

About you:

  • A journalism degree and experience working within the media industry.
  • Well developed interview and communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic and a healthy level of initiative.
  • A high level of literacy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work autonomously under high pressure.
  • Flexibility to work in a seven‑day newsroom, including weekend shifts and later hours as required.
