Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in converting high-quality leads into sales and securing long-term clients for SQUAD's influencer and content products. This position requires building trusted relationships through exceptional strategic proposals and impeccable account service. As the face of SQUAD in the marketplace, you will be adept at strategic planning and forecasting while developing tailored client campaign solutions daily. The role involves hands-on collaboration with social media executives, providing clear direction and quality oversight on projects, and fostering meaningful client relationships. Additionally, you will work closely with commercial colleagues in the Mamamia sales team to drive success.

Here's some of the stuff you can expect to be doing if you join us:

  • Achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets, manage deals and revenue through Boostr, and contribute to business reporting.
  • Develop and present client proposals and SOWs, including key content and influencer strategies, partnership frameworks, and costings, while ensuring high-quality responses.
  • Collaborate with commercial, production, and creative teams to maintain quality on client projects post-sale, and serve as a senior relationship point for retained clients and partners.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and social landscape developments, and contribute to client reporting and content publication on the SQUAD website and social accounts.

Now, a bit about you.

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in media, advertising, agency, or publisher sales, with a proven track record in lead generation, client conversion, and contributing to client reporting.
  • Strategic and Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to create high-quality social strategies and presentations, coupled with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of social media audience trends and platforms.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to foster key relationships with both internal and external clients, and effectively manage a team to execute campaigns seamlessly from start to finish.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid knowledge of the Australian content marketing landscape, experience with CRM systems. Social management tools (e.g., Sprout, Hootsuite) experience, and a sound understanding of social performance media KPIs and the content creation process is also desirable.

Life at SQUAD

Whether it's video, audio or written content, across social, websites, email or publishing, our expertise is built from the DNA of Australia's most successful content-led brand, Mamamia.

Culture drives consumer behaviour, from trending moments to longform storytelling. We are fascinated by the way culture influences content, and the speed at which it changes and as a content and marketing.

As a team, we're fast-paced, innovative, and deeply collaborative. SQUAD feels small enough that you can create real and tangible change, but has the structure to support your ideas with experienced and industry-leading teams.

We have a startup spirit within a scaled-up business structure and we're incredibly proud of the culture and community we've created. Our team is inclusive, passionate, and fun (..although apparently, not very modest about it); many lifelong friendships and connections have been forged in Mamamia HQ.

But enough about us, let's talk about how we can help you. We want to support all of our staff in kicking as many career goals as possible so that's why we'll support you in getting involved in the things you're actually interested in. Think you might want to broaden your scope? Get exposure to another team in the business? Try something new and develop your skills? We'll help you make it happen and cheer you on the whole way.

On top of all that, SQUAD also offers:

  • Flexible working conditions
  • The opportunity to celebrate your birthday and ongoing dedication with additional leave days
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid volunteer leave to get involved with our charity partners
  • The opportunity to work for a purpose-driven company and help us make the world a better place for women and girls.
