We are looking for a driven newsroom leader who thrives under pressure and is passionate about setting the standard for exceptional journalism.
We are currently seeking a Supervising Producer, reporting to the Production Editor, to take the helm and guide the editorial direction of our daily programming. In this fast-paced environment, you will be the driving force behind what goes to air, making independent, high-level decisions on story selection and program structure. Working closely with senior leadership and a dedicated team of producers, you will ensure our coverage remains engaging, legally sound, and consistently first to report.
Key Responsibilities
- Make key decisions about on-air content, story treatments, and program structure to ensure our news coverage is compelling and accurate.
- Guide a team of producers, assigning tasks and providing actionable feedback to guarantee high-quality news programming goes to air.
- Monitor external sources to ensure Sky News is first to report, while actively verifying and gathering information for developing stories.
- Work in close partnership with the Chief of Staff, senior leadership, studio staff, and editors to seamlessly deliver premium broadcasts.
- Sub and review scripts, ensure all content strictly meets legal requirements, and enforce compliance with all News Corp and ANC policies.
Who are you?
You possess exceptional editorial skills and razor-sharp news judgment, honed in a high-pressure news environment.
You have an in-depth knowledge of Australian news and politics, alongside a strong understanding of international current affairs, particularly US politics.
You bring excellent communication skills with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team of producers effectively.
You have a thorough, hands-on understanding of modern broadcast production techniques and newsroom systems.
You excel at planning, time management, and multitasking, never missing a beat when the news cycle accelerates.
