Working with leading brands (Crown, KIA, SIXT, Pepperstone, Kennedy, Red Bull, Ferrari, AIA) and the biggest rights holders in sports and entertainment (AFL, NRL, Australian Grand Prix, UFC, Australian Ballet), a role at Bastion Experience is unlike any other.

The Role

We are looking for a Partnerships Marketing Director who thrives on helping brands solve challenges others can’t by discovering and developing innovative marketing and leverage solutions for our clients sponsorships and partnerships.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with our brand clients to develop comprehensive leverage strategies for their sponsorships and partnerships. The role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of integrated marketing campaigns, a passion for collaboration, strong leadership skills and capability to act as a trusted authority to advocate for the brand partner within the scope of their rights holder sponsorships.

You will sit in the Bastion Experience Strategic Partnerships team working closely with the GM, Head Of, Managers and Strategists. Such an opportunity requires someone who has a strong understanding of the sponsorship and marketing landscape and can craft authentic propositions that align to a brand’s key objectives and can deliver against their overarching marketing plan, with a focus on sponsorships and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities include:

It will be the responsibility of the Partnerships Marketing Director to deliver world class brand partnership campaigns and work with the Bastion Experience Senior Leadership Team to nurture and grow key clients in order to meet all financial and non-financial performance targets.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop overarching leverage strategies for brand clients' sponsorships and partnerships to achieve marketing and business objectives.
  • Identify and capitalise on opportunities to maximise the value of sponsorship assets and benefits.
  • Create and execute integrated marketing campaigns that utilise all marketing channels, ensuring a cohesive and impactful brand presence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement campaigns effectively.

Relationship Management

  • Cultivate strong relationships with brand clients, understanding their business goals and marketing needs.
  • Collaborate with rights holders and external partners to optimise sponsorship activations.
  • Act as the brand champion within the sponsorship context, ensuring that all activities align with the brand's values, messaging, and overall identity.
  • Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on maintaining brand integrity.


  • Monitor and analyse the performance of sponsorship activations, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Work with our client services team to prepare regular reports to demonstrate the impact of campaigns on marketing and business objectives.

People and Process

  • Develop strong and deep relationships with current staff –particularly within Bastion Experience but importantly across and the entire collective of Agencies
  • Assist the Head of Strategic Partnerships and General Manager, Commercial Strategy & Partnerships in building and maintaining an environment and culture within the Bastion Experience Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane teams that ensures staff feel supported, empowered, safe, challenged and driven to produce the very best work they can.
  • Develop new and build upon current processes and strategies to create efficiencies across the business – commercial, communication and resourcing.
  • Drive staff skill acquisition and professional development to ensure all staff are continually challenged and growing. Identify areas in need of improvement and work with the staff and business to ensure these knowledge or skills gaps are addressed and improved.
  • Support and, where appropriate, drive all external HR activity including: pipelining new staff, interviewing, contract negotiations and inductions and other staff processes.
  • Remain vigilant around succession planning to ensure effective strategies around replacement of key staff and keeping pace with growth.
  • Develop strong relationships with the broader Sponsorship industry, both Property Holders and Brands.


  • Manage all costs to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Continue to improve invoicing, pricing and finance processes and ensure 100% budget accuracy.
  • Ensure the team adequately manages individual client projects and divisional

profitability analysis. Report regularly to the GM, Head of Strategic Partnerships.


· Deliver against all agreed financial targets – both divisional and company.

  • Confident in supporting our strategy, creative and brand partnerships teams to develop first class, innovative, cross channel integrated leverage strategies.
  • Possess a deep understanding of marketing principles and strong commercial acumen to embed tactical mechanics within leverage strategies to deliver against marketing objectives and achieve true commercial outcomes from sponsorships and partnerships for our brand partners.
  • Experienced in managing relationships with CMO and Heads of Marketing to establish KPI’s, discuss business challenges and uncover potential opportunities.
  • Who is an organised and driven person with great attention to detail and enjoys working in a fast paced, dynamic & collaborative environment.
  • Who is able to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
  • Who can challenge themselves, challenge our clients and is looking for a role offering strong growth potential working alongside the GM & Head of Strategic Partnerships.

What You Bring

  • Significant experience needed in developing and executing partnership campaigns in entertainment, sponsorships, brand marketing, social and branded content
  • Well rounded marketing, partnerships and commercial acumen.
  • A strong network of rights holders, brands and clients.
  • A strong understanding of the Australian / global sports, arts and entertainment landscape.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A natural operator with organisational skills to balance high pressure projects concurrently.
  • Ability to manage key stakeholders and maintain regular WIPs and communications.
