About the role

Country Style is Australia's leading homes and lifestyle brand, renowned for its beautiful photography and authentic storytelling, the creative director is responsible for maintaining the magazine's beautiful aesthetic. Reporting to the editor, the creative director must work well in a team and be a self-starter, providing ideas for content that works within the pages of the magazine as well as online.


The Creative Director is responsible for designing and creating beautiful, aspirational pages and enhancing and maintaining the visual direction of Country Style magazine. The creative director will set the brand style and and aesthetic expectations for Country Style and will be involved in the pre-planning and execution of all layouts all layouts while assisting the editor to set the vision for the magazine and associated brand offshoots, including digitally.

The position will work with the Editor and editorial team to design outstanding layouts, maintaining the unique look and feel of Country Style. The role will involve visual research and collaboration with photographers and stylists on house, people and decorating shoots. Commissioning and organising cover and photo shoots are an important part of the role.

This role will suit a highly motivated team player who prides themselves on being organised, has a high attention to detail, is obsessed with homes, regional Australia, people, food, travel, fashion and lifestyle.

Skills and experience

Appropriate qualifications as a graphic designer as well as at least 10 years work experience are required. Previous employment as a creative director or senior art director on a magazine, plus magazine production knowledge is essential. A knowledge and understanding of issues and geography of regional Australia is preferred. Digital experience is also essential to continue to guide Country Style into a beautiful and strong omnichannel brand.
