Job Description
This is a versatile, hands-on role within our newly formed Digital Archive team, acting as the engine of our digitisation pipeline. You will be responsible for the physical and digital handling of Nine’s historical assets, ensuring that decades of broadcast video, images, and newspaper archives are correctly preserved for the future. Your work will bridge the gap between legacy archives and modern technology, utilizing automation at scale to create a lasting social and historical legacy for Australia.
Day to day you will:
- Execute the end-to-end digitisation logging process, precisely matching physical records to their new digital outputs.
- Perform technical quality control (QC) and format verification to ensure all assets meet high broadcast and publishing standards.
- Enrich and verify metadata during ingest, ensuring every asset is accurately indexed within our Media Asset Management (MAM) system.
- Collaborate with external digitisation vendors to manage the delivery and technical verification of content batches.
- Document and categorise information assets to help identify historical and commercial value for new AI-powered products.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience in media operations, library science, or a digital archive environment (0-2 years' experience is ideal).
- A strong technical understanding of various media formats across broadcast (video/audio) and publishing (newsprint/photography).
- Exceptional attention to detail with a keen eye for technical flaws in digital video and images.
- Familiarity with metadata schemas and a high level of comfort navigating Digital Asset Management systems.
- A proactive, "one team" mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships with librarians, technical teams, and external partners.
